DCYH would like to host a Jr. Gold team, we have a plan, we're working on details, and we'll know more soon.
We have been working since the end of last season to prepare for the possibility of a Jr. Gold team. Our director of hockey Jeff Bolin has been working with Minnesota Hockey to get the approvals for a team, and he's been working to plan games and ice.
What we can't confirm is that we'll have the player numbers we'll need to roster a team. We expect many players will try out for the High School Hockey program. We want to give every kid every opportunity so we'll hold-off Jr. Gold tryouts until after High School teams have been chosen.
We know some players are ready to commit to Jr. Gold now. So I've created a pre-registration form. Please complete this if you have a player who can commit to playing Jr. Gold now. If we have promising pre-registration numbers, it could help us start ramping up the season sooner.
The primary goal is to provide a place for kids who still want to play hockey. We will be welcoming players from outside the DCYH coop area. Practices and ice will likely be in Rochester most of the time.
That's the information I have for now. We will update the website as plans progress.
