Dodge County Ice Arena

ATTENTION HOCKEY PARENTS, PLAYERS, COACHES AND FANS!!

There is a campaign in the works to take away the Dodge County Ice Arena and turn it into a storage building (of all things)! We need to come together and let our voices be heard to stop this from happening. Instead of taking away our arena we need these Commissioners to understand that they need to INVEST in our building (some repairs and upkeep would be nice). The Commissioners need to see our Arena as an ASSET – for our kids, our community and other outside communities who are looking to book our ice time. Our Hockey Program boasts some top players, amazing competition and dedicated coaches and parents.

Currently Dodge County and the City of Kasson operate the Ice Arena as a partnership. Kasson takes care of day-to-day management and Dodge County helps with expenses. These three Commissioners (listed below) would like to dissolve the agreement and take the ice arena back. They would use the building for county storage and allow the fair to use it for the week of the fair. They see using the Arena for hockey only limits it to a “privileged few.” They also do not see hockey as big asset to Kasson, Mantorville, or Dodge County.

Let your Commissioners know that we are not the “privileged few” we include anyone and everyone who wants to be a part of our program. We are hard working, dedicated hockey supporters who pay our dues equally. We are tax payers and voters alike. We are parents, we are fans, we are Coaches, we are Team Sponsors, we are Volunteers – WE ARE A HOCKEY FAMILY!!

School Superintendent Mark Matuska has offered the Middle School, both inside and the parking lot, to the fair to use during fair week, but the fair board does not think that will work for them.

(LETTER FROM MIKE & LISA PETERSON)

Please take some time to contact these folks below and let them know how you feel about our rink!! Yes, it's just as much ours as it is theirs!!!
